On 4th May 2023, I set up a Facebook page called ‘Interesting Places to Shop in Berwick-upon-Tweed’
Using the power of social media to the benefit of a community
The idea is see if independent businesses in Berwick can come together, share, comment on and like each others’ posts, and so spread the news about the many interesting, independent, original, high quality businesses in the town.
Micro and Small Businesses
I’m a micro business, I like and hugely respect small business owners who conjure livings from thin air and work so hard to make it all happen. This project might prove to be an effective way of reaching further afield for new custom and a creating a identity for Berwick as a shopping destination. It benefits everyone.

I’ve taken attractive photographs and written, from the heart, about the heart of each business.
Outcomes
Four weeks in, we have 600 followers and several businesses are reporting new custom generated by the page.
